Quipasur recently traveled to Peru to visit our distributor, C&T Representaciones, with the aim of exploring new opportunities in the foundry industry.
Quipasur and Bandinotti hosted a successful workshop in Puerto Pontt, bringing together leaders from key aquaculture companies, including Australis Mar, Blumar, Camanchaca, Cermaq, Multiexport, Salmones Austral, Marine Farm, and Ventisqueros.

The main objective was to address the issue of biofouling (biological encrustation) and strategies for the use of antifouling paints.
This meeting established itself as an essential tool for understanding marine environmental dynamics, promoting innovation and sustainability in the sector.
The workshop highlighted the expertise of Dr. Javier Pinochet Romero, a marine biologist and doctor specializing in marine community ecology and biofouling. His keynote speech, "Ecological factors that shape the structure of biofouling in artificial environments," provided a crucial scientific foundation.
Dr. Pinochet explained that biofouling is a complex assembly that begins with a microbial biofilm and is shaped by factors such as temperature, substrate roughness, and predation pressure. He emphasized that understanding how these factors structure fouling communities is essential for designing effective management strategies and mitigating negative impacts on aquaculture production efficiency.
The event was also a showcase for cutting-edge solutions:
Badinotti presented its innovative Greenline product line, focused on high-performance alternatives for the protection of submerged structures.
As the Quipasur Group (Quipasur, Resinas, and Hewstone), we highlighted our focus on R&D, presenting a comprehensive vision for offering technologically advanced products and solutions. We emphasized the importance of continuous research and development to ensure operational efficiency and long-term sustainability in the sector.
The Puerto Pontt Workshop reaffirmed the need for strategic collaboration in the industry. At Quipasur, we are a technology partner, facilitating access to cutting-edge scientific knowledge and innovative solutions, which are essential for addressing the challenge of biofouling and ensuring the sustainable productivity of Chilean aquaculture.
